How selfish I am to wish that you will stay here a little bit longer, a little bit forever?
You were one of those whom I met during my AHLAN phase. Since then, we became closer and closer. Time by time, I didn’t realise that I depended on you too much even with the smallest things. You became one of the person I looked up to.
You taught me so many things. You taught me the meaning of life. And the most important is, you encouraged and taught me to become the best version of me.
Ibn Umar reported: ‘The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people……’
Have you ever wondered to yourself what it actually means to be the best?
If we go through the hadith until the end, we can clearly know what does it take to be the best version of ourselves ;
‘……The most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or to remove one of his troubles, or to forgive his debt, or to feed his hunger. That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Medina for a month. Whoever swallows his anger, then Allah will conceal his faults. Whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could fulfill his anger if he wished, then Allah will secure his heart on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever walks with his brother regarding a need until he secures it for him, then Allah Almighty will make his footing firm across the bridge on the day when the footings are shaken.”
This life is nothing about me or you, it is about us!
You can start your day in the morning, go to your classes, study and go back home, eat, play games and sleep all by yourself alone then repeat all over again everyday. Will that make you less human?
No, but eventually your inner souls are screaming. You are in need of people in your life. You do need friends, you need to communicate and you do need a community. You may deny this but no one in this world like to be alone forever. We are so selfish. We only want people to be there when we need them, but we never want to guarantee that we will be there for them too.
Because we are too blind to see the fact that we are only a traveller in this worldly Dunya. We are fooled by this beautiful Dunya designed by our lust and desires, we forget that our eternal hometown is nothing compared to here.
We are too busy decorating our pit stop.
We are too excited with all these temporary enjoyment.
Abu Darda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The world is cursed and everything in it is cursed, except whatever seeks the countenance of Allah Almighty.”

We are not living here forever, so make use of the time we still have to pack everything we need in our journey to Jannah; our hometown. Let us do everything we can to make this world a pleasant pit stop. Do what Allah ask us to do. Be a good slave to Allah. Do not forget our priorities, do not forget our friends, do not leave the others behind. We want to go to Jannah together!
This journey is not an easy journey but Allah will never break His promises.
‘Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, let not then this (worldly) present life deceive you, nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah.’
(Surah Luqman 31:33)
